Colorado Rockies right-hander Jimmy Herget went on the 15-day injured list on Thursday because of a right shoulder impingement.
Herget, who had been away from the team on the bereavement/family emergency list since Saturday, returned and pitched on Tuesday. The 32-year-old allowed one hit and one walk with one strikeout in one inning but felt discomfort in his shoulder in a 3-1 road loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The move to the injured list is retroactive to Wednesday. In a corresponding move, the Rockies recalled right-hander Tanner Gordon from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Herget is 0-1 with one save, a 5.06 ERA, four walks and 17 strikeouts in 16 innings over 15 games (three starts) in his second season with Colorado.
For his career, Herget is 8-12 with 10 saves, a 3.29 ERA, 77 walks and 239 strikeouts in 254 1/3 innings over 203 games (six starts) with the Cincinnati Reds (2019), Texas Rangers (2020-21), Los Angeles Angels (2021-23), Atlanta Braves (2024) and Rockies.
Gordon, 28, is 0-0 with a 6.35 ERA, four walks and 20 strikeouts in 17 innings over five relief appearances this season for the Rockies. In his third season, he is 6-14 with a 6.06 ERA in 28 career games (23 starts).
