FC Dallas got goals from four different players as they dominated D.C. United for a 4-0 MLS victory Saturday in Washington.
Logan Farrington and Patrickson Delgado scored in the first half and Osaze Urhoghide and Petar Musa tacked on goals after intermission for Dallas.
Michael Collodi had three saves, all in the first half, as Dallas (3-1-2, 11 points) improved its position in the highly competitive Western Conference.
It was the second clean sheet for Collodi this season. The keeper and his defense had struggled as Collodi entered the match with nearly as many goals allowed (nine) as saves (10).
FC Dallas flashed the depth of their attack, as their four goals and two assists came from six different players. The splurge came against a D.C. team which had surrendered just four goals, the second fewest in the Eastern Conference entering the match.
Dallas has scored 11 goals in going 2-0-1 in its last three matches.
The offensive struggles continued for D.C. United (2-3-1, 7 points), which failed to score for the second straight match and has just four goals this season, which is tied for the fewest in the Eastern Conference.
Sean Johnson had three saves for D.C., which has won only one of its last 14 home matches.
Dallas struck early as Romario Luiz Da Silva seized on a D.C. mistake near midfield and sent a through ball to Farrington near the left side of the box.
With a deft second touch, Farrington froze Johnson and scored with a left-footed shot in the bottom left corner in the 16th minute for his fourth goal of the season.
FC Dallas went up 2-0 before halftime after D.C. defender Lucas Bartlett drew a yellow card with a tackle just outside the box.
From beyond the left corner of the box, Patrickson Delgado blasted a free kick over the defensive wall and just inside the left post in the first minute of extra time. It was the first goal this season for Delgado.
In the 78th minute, FC Dallas scored with a remarkable connection as Joaquin Vallente sent a long cross to the left side of the box, which Urhoghide headed just inside the left post.
Musa's goal came one minute into stoppage time on a shot into an open goal off a rebound.
Collodi's best save on the night came in the 41st minute when he tipped a Bartlett header over the crossbar.
