In the second trade between the Blackhawks and Oilers this week, Edmonton acquired forwards Jason Dickinson and Colton Dach in exchange for forward Andrew Mangiapane and a conditional 2027 first-round pick Wednesday.
Shoring up their roster for another playoff run, the Oilers obtained Blackhawks defenseman Connor Murphy on Tuesday, sending a 2028 second-round pick to Chicago.
Dickinson, 30, is in the second season of a two-year deal worth $4.25 million annually. Per ESPN, the Blackhawks are retaining 50% of his salary.
Posting 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in 47 games this season, Dickinson is a versatile player who can play left wing or center and kill penalties. He has 103 short-handed minutes this season, his fourth straight of 100 or more.
A first-round pick of the Dallas Stars (No. 29 overall) in 2013, Dickinson has 168 points (74 goals, 94 assists) in 549 games with the Stars (2015-21), Vancouver Canucks (2021-22) and Blackhawks (2022-26).
Dach, 23, is in his first full NHL season and has nine points (three goals, six assists) in 53 games. Over 78 games with the Blackhawks, the 2021 second-round pick has 16 points (five goals, 11 assists).
A 35-goal scorer in 2021-22 with the Calgary Flames, Mangiapane has seen his point totals decline over the past four seasons. He has 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) in 52 games with the Oilers this season, the first year of a two-year, $3.6 million contract.
Mangiapane, 29, has 257 points (130 goals, 127 assists) over 550 games with the Flames (2017-24), Washington Capitals (2024-25) and Oilers.
