The Seidler family's legal battle for control of the San Diego Padres appears to be over.
According to a court filing Monday, the widow of Peter Seidler dropped most of her claims against two of the late owner's brothers.
Sheel Seidler filed a lawsuit in Texas probate court last year accusing Matt and Bob Seidler of fraud and breaches of fiduciary duty in their roles as Peter Seidler's trustees.
According to The Athletic, Monday's filing says the two sides have reached an 'agreement to resolve the matters between them,' with the exceptions of her claims regarding trust distributions and her demand for accounting. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
John Seidler became the Padres' control person and chairman last February. In November, the family announced it was exploring a potential sale of the franchise, which was valued last year by Forbes at $1.95 billion.
Peter Seidler died on Nov. 14, 2023 at the age of 63.
The founder of a private equity firm, Seidler came from a baseball family. His grandfather, Walter O'Malley, was the longtime owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Seidler was part of an ownership group that bought the Padres in August 2012, and he served as majority owner from November 2020 until his passing.
