The Dallas Cowboys waived cornerback Kaiir Elam on Saturday while also signing running back Malik Davis from the practice squad, according to the team.
Elam, 24, started in seven of the 10 games he appeared during his first season with the Cowboys and had 29 tackles with one pass defended. He has 110 career tackles with two interceptions in 39 games (19 starts) after spending his first three seasons with the Buffalo Bills.
On Monday, the Cowboys activated veteran safety Malik Hooker from injured reserve after coming away with a toe injury in Week 4.
Davis, 26, has seven carries for 26 yards in four games for the Cowboys this season. In three active seasons, all with the Cowboys, the undrafted free agent out of Florida has 45 carries for 187 yards and a touchdown in 19 career games (no starts).
The Cowboys (4-5-1) will be at home to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
