About Sözcü
Sözcü (spokesperson in English) is a well-known Turkish daily newspaper. Burak Akbay initially published Sözcü on June 27, 2007, and it is now available statewide. With roughly 300,000 copies sold daily as of June 2018, Turkey's most popular newspapers.
Its roots may be traced back to the publishing of Gözcü (literally, Observer, published by Doan Media Group) on May 15, 1996, and ending on April 1, 2007. Employees took control of Gözcü, and the name was changed to Sözcü. The publication sold roughly 60,000 copies in its first few days. The magazine had a readership of 150,000 by September 2008. This number had risen to 210,000 by December 2010. Through its anti-government (Justice and Development Party or AKP) position, Sözcü has become one of the country's top-selling publications due to increased political conflict.
The most widely circulated Turkish newspaper openly attacks the governing party and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Other anti-AKP publications, including Cumhuriyet and BirGün, have a more assertive nationalist and Kemalist stance than Sözcü.
Since June 2012, the Sözcü Group has produced the daily sports publication AMK. AMK is an abbreviation for Ack Mert Korkusuz (translated: Open, Valiant, and Fearless), but it has sparked debate because the word is frequently misunderstood in Turkish to signify a vulgar epithet. In Germany, a Sözcü edition oriented at Turks in Western Europe is issued.
Newspaper as a primary source
Gazetteer stories are excellent places to start your research. They can include a wealth of information, but you must understand why you want to utilize one in your work. Many people consider Gazeteler stories to be primary sources. Still, before you use one in your study, you should ask yourself some questions about it.
This is very dependent on the answers to the questions you posed previously about the article. These responses determine if the text is original, analysis, or an opinion. Yes, the article qualifies as a primary source if you judge that the information is authentic. It is a secondary source if the piece features a new technological advance or a current trend.
