Gadi Kinda and Daniel Salloi each logged a goal and an assist as Sporting Kansas City defeated FC Dallas 2-1 on Wednesday night in Kansas City, Kan.
Sporting (4-8-4, 16 points) improved to 4-1-1 in their past six MLS matches. After scoring just three goals in its first 10 MLS matches, Kansas City has now scored 12 goals in the past six. SKC has scored at least two goals in four of those matches.
FC Dallas (6-4-5, 23 points) lost for the first time in six MLS matches (2-3-1). Jesus Ferreira drew the visitors within one goal in the first minute of second-half stoppage time, but Dallas could come up with the equalizer.
Sporting broke the scoreless tie in the 41st minute on a goal by Kinda. Salloi passed the ball across the mouth of the goal to Kinda, who was situated just outside the 6-yard box. Kinda fired it past Dallas goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer.
With Dallas attacking at every opportunity after halftime -- some coming from SKC giveaways -- Kinda fed a wide open Salloi on the left side. Salloi casually dribbled the ball through several FC Dallas defenders before firing a shot past Maurer from just inside the 18-yard box in the 60th minute.
The first half was a series of mostly unclaimed scoring opportunities. The sides combined for 17 shots, including six shots on goal before halftime.
Sporting's Alan Pulido just missed on a couple of early opportunities. His shot from close range sailed just over the bar in the ninth minute. Erik Thommy's pass to the center of the box in the 15th minute was just beyond Pulido's reach.
Dallas had the best chance to take the lead when Ferreira recovered a deflection from SKC goalie Kendall McIntosh and fired it into the net in the 17th minute before being ruled offside.
FC Dallas nearly grabbed the lead in the 24th minute, too. Ferreira fed Jesus Jimenez right in front of the goal, but Jimenez's shot clanged off the left post and was parried away.
