Tucson, Ariz. Dutch farmers are protesting government rules that 'may require them to use less fertilizer and reduce livestock,' according to U.S. news media reports. The idea is to 'reduce harmful nitrogen compounds' from farm animal manure and from the use of ammonia in fertilizer. The government estimates that a 30% reduction in the number of livestock is needed.
Farmers are blocking roads with trucks, tractors, bales of hay, and piles of manure, and some are reportedly spraying manure on public buildings. Ports are being closed by fishermen.
The centrally dictated emissions 'targets' to fight climate change will force some locations to cut emissions by 75 percent to as much as 95 percent, making farming virtually impossible. The tiny Netherlands is the second largest agricultural exporter in the world.
Dutch farmers are committing suicide out of despair as their livelihoods and way of life are being destroyed. As many as one-third of all farms will be shut down. Instead of farms, the land might become part of a mega-city rivalling Los Angeles as part of the 2030 UN Sustainable Development agenda.
An immediate result of the Dutch farmers' resistance is that many supermarket shelves are bare.
'Civil unrest in one of the calmest places in the world should be very concerning to Americans,' states Doctors for Disaster Preparedness president Jane Orient, M.D. 'Massive unrest and bare supermarket shelves are being seen in many areas, along with soaring prices. People need to be preparing to survive and help their neighbors, as well as examining government policies affecting food supply.
