Each year, thousands upon thousands of startups are founded. These startups have the potential to disrupt healthcare. To give you a glimpse of the new technologies and startups that will impact healthcare by 2022, we analyzed hundreds of global scaleups and startups in the field of healthtech. These are the five most exciting startups you should be following!
Bottneuro is a Swiss startup that offers non-invasive neuromodulation therapy for Alzheimer's patients. The startup's NENI platform develops and validates electrical stimulation protocols. Many neuromodulation therapies fail because of poor targeting and limited sense abilities. Bottneuro collects data from patients to determine areas that are suitable for electric stimulation. This is done by using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emissiontomography, PET, scans. Computer simulations then allow the wearables to stimulate affected areas. Startup treatments are more effective at targeting glia cells which reduce Ab accumulation in brain cells. This allows patients to stabilize their behavior and slow down cognitive decline.
Launch Medical created The Phoenix which uses shockwave therapy. It is also known as acoustic and low-intensity extracorporeal shocwave therapy (LiESWT) and it is the best method to treat erectile dysfunction. The Phoenix is the only non-invasive treatment for the problem.
To safely dissolve plaque in vessels, the Phoenix uses sound waves (sometimes called shockwaves). These waves penetrate the tissue to cause painless microtrauma.
This treatment causes your body to grow new blood vessels to support tissue recovery. Although it is not an instant fix, Li-ESWT can result in more blood vessels and less plaque. Due to a large supply of blood during sex, your tissue health will improve and so will your quality of erections.
This FDA-cleared mobile EKG monitor from AliveCor allows you to track your heart health wherever and whenever you want. Kardia Mobile delivers a medical-grade electrocardiogram (ECG) to your smartphone within 30 seconds when it is used with its app. It's that simple!
TytoHome is a remote medical examination kit. Anyone can perform a basic medical exam at home with this kit. This revolutionary gadget is essential in times of coronavirus pandemic. The device can be used in conjunction with a teleconferencing app that allows users to connect remotely with healthcare providers. If necessary, the app can be used to diagnose, plan treatment, or prescribe.
The Tyto device includes a digital camera and a thermometer. The kit also includes an otoscope and tongue depressor.
Youper created its A.I.-based chatbot for cognitive-behavioral treatment. It also offers remote psychiatrists, coaches and an online pharmacy. The chatbot is similar to a text message exchange. Patients can talk about their feelings and thoughts, and the A.I. responds. As programmed by mental healthcare professionals, the chatbot responds with advice and questions.
Youper is not trying to replace psychiatrists. Instead, he wants to make it easier for them to see more patients at a lower price.
Osso VR simulates the experience of performing surgery on patients. Users can create their own experiments and choose from hundreds of pre-designed modules. The company is based in San Francisco and has raised $43million. They plan to expand their virtual animal surgery offerings in the near future.
