Due to the sudden outbreak of coronavirus, classes have shifted from offline to online. Online learning gained popularity because it helps children in their studies and maintaining a routine. It helps to continue studies when all schools and colleges remain closed.
Parents should look after their children and their studies. Also, they have to manage home and office at the same time. So, it's crucial to have a full-proof plan to establish a balance between children, home, and work. In this article, I will be listing some tips for parents to help children at home.
Try to make a Schedule that somehow matches or is closer to a schedule of a school. Doing this will make things simpler and more manageable.
You can make changes according to your time, working hours, sleeping hours. Once your routine is completed, try to follow the pattern.
Children usually get a lot of assignments. So make sure that everything they might need to complete their assignment should be present at home.
For Example- Scissors, pens, pencils, chart paper, gum, and more. It will be indeed lesser your burden.
Online classes require a fast and stable wifi connection, so make sure you have the proper internet connection. Also, you should know all the log-in details if needed. Apart from all these, it would help if you had a PDF reader, notes maker, etc., that your child might need during classes.
It is one of the critical and challenging things. Making your home environment suitable for learning a bit of a complicated task. It becomes difficult for you to keep a check on your child if they remain isolated. Similarly, they get distracted if they sit and study at the kitchen table, dining table, and T.V hall. So! It becomes essential to make your home suitable for learning.
Do not get confused between a daily plan and a schedule. Your daily plan includes the to-do things daily. List every that you are going to do in a whole day. Doing this will help in reminding you.
If you are a parent, then this tip is vital for you. Being a parent, try to solve your children's issues by making them understand, do not teach them. The kind of help they need will depend upon subject to subject and kids to kids.
Try to be a responsible parent. Look after your children. Keep a regular check on their homework, class assignments, projects, and more. Leaving their work incomplete may hamper their performance.
Make your children active in checking out emails/ messages from school and teachers regularly. Teach them how to check emails and messages. Also, ask them to give a reply if required.
Sometimes it gets difficult to look after your child when there is a lot of pressure at work, home, etc. But, in the end, it's all about your child and their well-being. It would be best to focus on your child's needs, and the rest of the work can wait.
A teacher needs to analyze why their student is not doing well. In online classes, you need to find out what's wrong with your student? Is it a lack of focus, motivation, or understanding of the topic, or anything else?
Being a parent, you must look after various things; one is this. Ask for resource support from your child's school.
I know this is a crucial phase but try to take it as an opportunity. Utilize this phase to know your child a little more. Sit with them, talk to them about their interests, make them bold and smart, teach good things to them, give space and let your child know you more, and try to make a good bond with your child.
