With two losses and two draws in their last four games, the LA Galaxy look to turn things back around on Wednesday night when they host the Houston Dynamo at Carson, Calf.
The Galaxy (11-8-4, 37 points) sit in fourth place in Major League Soccer's Western Conference standings. They are on their longest winless run all season, including losing their last two matches at home, and have not won a game at home since Aug. 4.
Wednesday's match is the second of a stretch of three in eight days for the club.
A bright spot for the Galaxy is the recent return of star striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez from a long-term calf injury.
"Last year we weren't even half of what we're doing now. And now we're top four. I was out for 10 weeks, we had international guys," Hernandez told the MLS website. "I think we should get more credit. I don't think we've had the perfect season or want to celebrate, but we're doing well.
"The most attractive thing is that we can do much better. I don't think we've scratched the ceiling of how good this team could be."
The Dynamo (4-10-10, 22 points) find themselves eight points behind the lowest current playoff seed, seventh place, in the West. But as far back as Houston is, it has lost just once in its last eight games against the Galaxy, with four draws and three wins.
That said, the Dynamo had not won a match in MLS regular season play since May 22, until their 3-0 win over Austin FC on Saturday ended a 16-match winless stretch (0-8-8). And they are winless in 20 straight away matches, the longest active streak in MLS.
"We were finally able to put a complete effort together," Houston coach Tab Ramos said after the Austin win. "It's a little bit of a relief more than anything else."
Fafa Picault scored two goals and Griffin Dorsey added his first career MLS goal in the win over Austin. Picault leads the Dynamo with eight goals.
