If you are looking for a rewarding career that gives you the opportunity to save lives, then a LifeGuarding Class might be right for you. There is a difference between a regular lifeguarding class and a LifeGuarding course. Regular lifeguarding class are typically held once or twice a year. This is usually held by a local lifeguard association but lifeguarding courses can also be offered online through seminars and workshops. A lifeguarding class for kids tends to be much more intense, with many lifeguards passing out life Saving certificates to their students at each session.
Lifeguarding courses are designed to train each student how to save and rescue a life in and out of water. Every student will learn CPR/First Aid, Senior Lifeguarding, and Water Safety. Some classes include swimming lessons, while others just teach students how to swim. Other classes include ocean survival skills and how to handle emergencies while in the water. These classes can also teach students how to retrieve someone who has gone overboard.
A Lifeguarding Class for kids tends to be more intense because it is run by adults. In a blended learning class, children sit with an instructor for two hours. The instructor then instructs the kids in the lifeguarding class and teaches them about swimming. The blended learning class for kids is shorter than a traditional lifeguarding class because it does not have as much time spent in the water. Some blended learning classes only go for a half day, but this is enough to allow the students to see how much of the course is taught using practical examples, rather than just theory. In these types of classes, students go into the water and get a real-life hands-on experience with all of the drills and lessons.
There are some things to keep in mind when choosing the right summertime lifeguarding class for your son or daughter. Most classes today take on an adult-based curriculum. However, there are still a few classes that are based on a child-based curriculum. When looking at these programs, make sure you know the ages of the participants. This is important because younger children may be unable to handle being placed in a stressful situation while swimming. Some classes will require students to swim at their own pace and swim with other children at the same time.
If your child is interested in going to a red cross swim, they should look for a water skills class. These classes normally start at age ten and end at age sixteen. They will discuss water safety and basic aquatic skills, but will not teach lifeguarding techniques. The trainer for these classes is usually a certified lifeguard or a red cross instructor. Although these classes might not offer any hands on techniques, the instructors can give students valuable lifeguarding techniques they can use in the field.
Every student must have a valid CISA certificate before they can participate in a red Cross water safety class. If the student does not already have a CISA, they should take an online course to learn how to do so. A certified lifeguard must also be present at the class to give instruction. Lifeguarding is an exciting career choice, but requires plenty of dedication and practice to become an effective lifeguard.
